Vishal Devgan, popularly known as Ajay Devgan is a two-time National Film Award-winning actor.

Son of ace fight-master Veeru Devgan, Ajay was exposed to films at a very early age. He accompanied his father on several occasions to film set-ups and shooting schedules. At his age, he must have been impressed by the stunts his father directed. So, when he grew up and entered films, Ajay did some hair-raising stunts in his films.

Being the son of a fight master and fond of performing stunts, Devgan's earlier films were more of the violent nature. The trend in his career changed with Ishq, a soft romantic comedy where he was paired opposite Kajol.

Soon, Ajay's potential as a romantic hero capable of delivering emotional performances was discovered and the actor did not mind the change. After a couple of films came Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Ajay became hot property

Beginning as an action hero in the early 1990s, Devgan matured early in his career, and is widely regarded now as one of the finest and most serious actors of the Indian industry. 
His brilliant portrayal of a man torn by jealousy in Omkara is but one of his numerous award winning performances. Another notable performance by Devgan was in Rituparno Ghosh's Raincoat.
