Imran Khan was born in Madison Wisconsin, United States. Imran comes from an established family in the Bollywood industry. He is the son of Nuzhat Khan & Anil Pal. Anil Pal is a Bengali Hindu who is the Director of Yahoo! Inc. in United States. They divorced when he was young. His mother Nuzhat later married a Kashmiri Pandit actor Raj Zutshi. They divorced in 2006.

His maternal uncle is director Mansoor Khan. He is also the nephew of superstar Aamir Khan & the grandson of Nasir Hussain who was a legendary director & producer. He did a course at the New York Film Academy, on Writing and Directing. Imran made appearances as a child artist in his uncle Aamir's super hit films Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander.

He made his debut as a leading actor in the 2008 film Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, which is produced by his uncle Aamir Khan & co-stars Genelia D'Souza. The film released on July 4, 2008. Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na are all set to emerge the biggest hit of 2008 & the third blockbuster of the year. The film is doing extra-ordinary business at the multiplex at the moment. Imran is being appreciated in all fronts from critics to the audience. He is being tagged as the Next Big Superstar.
