Sameera Reddy was born in the Telugu speaking Reddy family in Andhra Pradesh. She has two sisters Meghna & Sushma. The Reddy associates from a small town named Rajamundry in the Indian State of Andhra Pradesh. She is a close relative of Business tycoon Vijay Mallya.Sameera graduated from Sydenham College.

She was first noticed in a music video Aahista by Pankaj Udhas. She modeled for a while before deciding to act in films. Sameera decided to take her acting career seriously & starting working out, eating the right foods, going to the gym, jogging, Kathak, swimming & yoga. She indulged her skin with all kinds of natural ingredients like curd and honey, and generally avoided make-up.

She made her film debut opposite Sohail Khan in Maine Dil Tujhko Diya. Her role was of a shy college girl who falls in love with one of her fellow students. She also tried her luck in tollywood in a few films; she had her first success with Musafir. She has acted in two Bengali films both directed by Budhdhadeb Dasgupta. One of her elder sisters, Sushma Reddy made her acting debut with the film Chocolate. Her other sister Meghna Reddy was a popular VJ on the Channel V. She made a guest appearance on the British show Casualty.

Her recent release Race, has very good & positive reviews. Sameera has been working for a year on Sam's Mission, a video game being made for mobile phones that includes special effects, fights and more. She is also the first Indian actress to feature in a video game.
